The Cooking Show Craze

21319841690_crockpot.jpgNever before has Australia seen such diversity and enthusiasm when it comes to food and eating. Gone are the ‘meat and three veg’ days of family dinners, because with so many cooking shows available on television, it’s now even easier for Australians to have a go at recreating their own culinary masterpiece.

Over the past sixty years, migrants from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa have greatly influenced Australia’s current understanding of food, culture and cooking traditions. As Australians increasingly grew fond of such new and exotic cuisines, many cooking shows have sprung up to introduce the country to the history, culture and, of course, the preparation of their favourite foods.

Two of the most popular TV series include the following:

• Luke Nguyen’s Vietnam (series 1 and 2). Many will know Luke Nguyen as the owner and chef of Sydney Vietnamese restaurant, Red Lantern.
